Abstracts of Odor Control
CASE STUDIES
Alken Enz-Odor®, Alken Clear-Flo® &
Alken Nu-Bind
Below is a sampling
of odor control problems we have solved in the past. We are constantly pushing
the envelope of technology, creating new formulas and new systems to solve
a wide variety of pollution problems. Do not assume that we cannot solve
a situation just because it is not on this list, we specialize in custom
solutions. When the other companies give up...call on Claudia, Valerie &
Ken. |
| Alken Enz-Odor® |
| 1) The October-November 1991 issue of
The Florida PET Review contains a favorable review of the performance
of Alken Enz-Odor® (original
blend) tells how the product performed for the reviewers. |
| 2) I Love Cats Magazine carried a favorable review of the original
formula of Alken Enz-Odor® in July 1991. |
| 3) Letter from Wyld-Kats Cattery recommending
Alken
Enz-Odor® 4
for cat litter pans. |
| 4) Letter
from T. Grace Atkinson recommending Alken Enz-Odor® 3
for female cat odor. |
| 5) Alken Enz-Odor® vs.
The Herd of Skunks.
The testimonial case study for this product is a zinger! 6 skunks invaded
the basement and under-deck area of a house FOR SALE!! Humane trapper,
Jim Reavis, removed the skunks and used Alken Enz-Odor® to remove the odor!! |
| 6) Independent testing of Alken Enz-Odor® 5 compared with 35 competing manure pit additives.
Test conducted by Purdue, sponsored by NPPC. |
| 7) Letter

| Manure
Management |
| 1) Application methods and dosage for
Clear-Flo 7000 is described for a chicken egg laying factory to reduce
odors and improve the quality of the digested waste. (Chickenfarm1.cxi) |
| 2) A solution for odors in chicken manure
prior to processing into fertilizer using Clear-Flo 1100
was outlined in 1992. (Chicken.02) |
| 3) In 1997, Alken Clear-Flo®
7000 was
used in four in-line chicken farm lagoons in Brazil. Tests by the regulatory agency certified laboratory
demonstrated over 87% efficiency reducing BOD from an average of 1,166 ppm
to 150 ppm. Excellent "before" and "after" photos.(Chicken3.CXI) |
| 4) Information and illustrations of Clear-Flo
7000 in use in animal producing farms (PigFarm1.DJC) |
| 5) A case study of Clear-Flo 7000 used on a brand-new Oklahoma pig farm in 1993, with application illustrations and photos.
Even with the ventilators closed, the only odor evident was straw and animal
feed. (PigFarm2.DJC)
. |
| 6) Dosage rates for use of Clear-Flo
7000 and Clear-Flo 4003 in a rabbit factory is
described. (Rabbits.196) |
| 7) Independent
testing of Alken Enz-Odor® 5 compared with 35 competing
manure pit additives. Test conducted by Purdue, sponsored by NPPC. |
| Hydrogen Sulfide Cleanup |
| 1) In August of 1991, a Latin American
resort used Clear-Flo 7100 and 7108 in the gravity
mains of their collection system to reduce hydrogen sulfide concentrations
below the odor threshold most of the time. A color graph illustrates the
results before and after treatment. (Resort.CXI) |
| 2) Domestic RBC plant and
collection system with additional grease and oil buildup problem, treated
with Clear-Flo 7108/4103 in the collection system. Plant
problems treated with Clear-Flo 7008/4003 in summer and Clear-Flo
7018/4003 in winter with a small amount of polymer added to the
gravity settler. (Collect.697) |
| 3) Clear-Flo 7008
(aka Enz-Odor 8) used to eliminate hydrogen sulfide while Clear-Flo
4003 used to degrade oils and improve mixed liquor solids control
and COD reduction. |
| Ammonia Reduction in a Waste
Treatment Facility |
| A Virginia public treatment plant uses Clear-Flo 7110 in 1991 to decrease effluent ammonia
concentrations by 75%. Illustrated with color graphs. (7110Rem) |
| Ammonia Odor Control
at Turkey Farm with Alken Nu-Bind |
| Alken Nu-Bind has been recently successfully controlled
both ammonia and hydrogen sulfide odors in a large turkey farm, when applied
as a spray to the waste on the floor in the turkey barns. This reduces the
frequency of air changes needed, so that the reduced electric bill, for
heating the barn, helps to offset the cost of the product. |
| Lagoons |
| 1) Virginia municipal waste treatment
plant's polishing
lagoons were treated
in 1991 with Clear-Flo 1000, reducing odors and algae within
one week. Photos illustrate before and after treatment. (GooseCreek.CXI) |
